DEAR PNHS MEMBERS, FRIENDS, COLLEAGUES, STUDENTS OF HISTORY:

I have the honor and pleasure to invite you to the 28th National Conference on Local and National History of the Philippine National Historical Society (PNHS) to be held on November 29-December 1, 2007 at Function Hall 1, Tangub City, Misamis Occidental. The conference is co-sponsored with Tangub City Historical Commission (in collaboration with the Department of History, University of San Carlos (Cebu). The Conference theme is “Focus on Mindanao and Sulu.” The objective of the conference is to look at the research and writing on Mindanao and Sulu and identify gaps that can be addressed by future or further research, situating the region’s history in the context of a Philippine national historiography. Continuing a tradition in PNHS of encouraging systematic studies on local and national history, papers will be presented in related disciplines and other regions in the fields of history, culture, and traditions.

The registration fee for the Conference is P3,000. Participants will receive a conference kit containing a CD of the conference papers, the book of abstracts with the program, complimentary PNHS publications, and snacks and lunches for the two days of the conference proper (November 29-30).
