Dear MSA Members, Colleagues, and Friends of the Manila Studies Association:

 

We have the honor and pleasure to invite you to the 22nd Annual Conference of the Manila Studies Association, Inc., to be held on August 27-29, 2013 (from 8:00-5:00 p.m. both days) at the Thomas Aquinas Research Complex (TARC) Auditorium, University of Santo Tomas, Sampaloc, Manila. This year's conference is co-sponsored with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) - Committee on Historical Research, the Department of History, University of Santo Tomas, and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), and will present papers on Manila studies highlighting various aspects of Manila’s history and culture, as well as studies on national history. This year 2013 is the 150th Birth Anniversary of Andres Bonifacio and the MSA Conference is in commemoration of his Sesquicentennial. The program will be posted in the website: http://pnhsi.tripod.com.

 

The conference sharing fee is P2,500.  Participants will be provided with a conference kit to include the conference program, abstracts and conference papers (in CD), complimentary MSA publication, and lunch and two meriendas for the first two days of the conference.  On the third day, there will be an educational tour of the University of Santo Tomas Museum and Archives. We would also like to invite you to visit the exhibit, “Manila at the Turn of the 20th Century,” at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts in Intramuros during History Month in August. The exhibit is sponsored by the Philippine National Historical Society (PNHS), the Manila Studies Association, and the NCCA, and is in celebration of History Month in August.
